It happens in an instant; they're grown.
There are inherent power imbalances between parents and children. This imbalance, born out of the obligation(bloodline)/desire to rear a child, and the obligation of the child to follow the guidance intended to keep a child safe, often continue into adulthood and the adult child and parent relationship.
Without planful, vulnerable communication of an adult child’s needs, imbalance in the parent child relationship can create toxic interactions and unhealthy patterns of living. This imbalance also has the potential to feed into generational patterns of rearing. Thus, notate and process how you feel, use tools for invitation of vulnerable conversation, and find progression in your familial relationships.
Understand your maternal and paternal instincts, understand your parents.
